Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of water utility systems, including pipelines, pumps, valves, and meters.
- Respond promptly to water-related service calls and emergencies to ensure minimal disruption to the community.
- Monitor and operate equipment used for water distribution, treatment, and storage.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing water utilities.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections completed, and materials used.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to execute projects efficiently.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in water utility management or a related field is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of water utility systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and computer systems for record-keeping.
- Valid Texas drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with team members and the public.
- Familiarity with safety practices and protocols in utility operations.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in water utility operations, maintenance, or related fields.
- Experience working with municipal or governmental water systems is a plus.
Working Hours
- Full-time position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- May include occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts for emergencies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of water distribution and treatment processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
