The United Firm, APC is seeking a skilled and compassionate Remote Humanitarian Legal Assistant (U-Visa) to join our expanding immigration team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with humanitarian-based immigration cases, particularly U-visa petitions for victims of crime.
The role involves working closely with clients who are seeking protection and assistance through humanitarian relief programs. You will report directly to the Immigration Department Supervisor, and your responsibilities will include assisting in case preparation, filing, and managing U-visa petitions and other humanitarian relief applications.

- U-Visa Case Preparation: Analyze case documents, prepare, and file U-visa petitions, ensuring all necessary forms, evidence, and supporting documentation meet USCIS requirements.
- Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, ensuring they understand the U-visa application process, gathering necessary documents, and providing updates on case progress.
- Document Review & Organization: Review and organize client documentation, including police reports, victim statements, medical records, and other evidence needed for U-visa petitions.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on U-visa eligibility requirements, procedures, and humanitarian relief programs, staying informed about changes in immigration law that impact U-visa filings.
- Case Management: Oversee and manage U-visa case files using case management software, ensuring accurate tracking of case progress, deadlines, and filing requirements.
- Administrative Support: Assist attorneys with administrative tasks, including drafting legal correspondence, maintaining case files, and tracking deadlines for filings and responses.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that U-visa petitions comply with USCIS standards and that all procedural steps are followed for timely filings and approvals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure seamless case management and effective preparation of U-visa petitions.
Requirements:
- At least 1-2 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on humanitarian relief programs, particularly U-visa petitions.
- Strong understanding of U-visa eligibility requirements and procedures, including the need for documentation of crime victimization and cooperation with law enforcement.
- Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief cases, or other victim-based immigration relief programs is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with case management software and other legal tools to manage client files efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact empathetically and professionally with clients.
