TITLE: State Preschool Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Child Development Teacher Permit required
2. Ability to positively interact with and teach preschool children daily.
3. Ability to work independently and complete assignments within
established guidelines
4. Minimum of two years working in a preschool setting preferred
5. Knowledge of state preschool requirements
6. Ability to work with families toward the education of the children
7. Excellent verbal and written skills
8. Work with Site Supervisor in all aspects of preschool operation
9. Meet educational requirements based on Child Development Permit

REPORTS TO: State Preschool Site Supervisor and/or Program Coordinator
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists Site Supervisor in delivery of a program that fulfills all preschool
requirements based on state guidelines, including Desired Results.
2. Assists Food Service staff with delivery of meals recording amounts and meal
component temperatures at time of delivery.
3. Attends regular parent meetings.
4. Works closely with parent volunteers, encouraging positive interaction with
the children.
5. Responds professionally to administrative directions and the needs of the
educational program.
6. Substitutes for Site supervisor and insure correct ratios are met.
7. Maintains a safe, comfortable environment which encourages children’s
education.
8. Maintains confidentiality with regard to all client/program activities, both
inside and outside work environment.
9. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
There is some degree of physical ability and exertion required of all positions. Over time, the
physical demands of any position are subject to change. Depending upon the particular
assignment, employees could be expected to:
1. Stand, sit, and/or move about for sustained periods.
2. Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling 70 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of
children/objects up to 50 lbs.
3. Move about in non-traditional instructional environments; i.e., areas of the community.
4. Communicate effectively in-person and via telephone and other electronic media to individuals and
groups of varying sizes.
5. Exercise physical control over students who are acting out and/or offer physical assistance to
students who might be themselves physically impaired.
6. Conduct instructional programs with pre-designated break periods and time schedules.
7. Maintain an appropriate personal demeanor during periods of heightened stress created by outside
factors not always within the ability of the employee to control at the time.
